- Nani was bitten by the direction bug during his college days, after watching Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan’s direction work.
- He was quite notorious during his college days and once got arrested.
- Watching his hunger to learn the art of filmmaking, his uncle, and producer, Anil, helped him to join director Bapu as a “clap assistant” in the film ‘Radha Gopalam’ (2005).
- Later, he worked as an assistant director in films like ‘Allari Bullodu’ (2005), ‘Asthram’ (2006), and ‘Dhee’ (2007).
- When he took a break to work for a script to direct a movie, his friend and RJ, Nandini Reddy, invited him to work as an RJ for World Space Satellite in Hyderabad, just for once in a week. He liked it so much that he did a show called ‘Nonstop Nani’ and worked there as an RJ for a year.
- While he was working as an RJ, he got featured in an advertisement and when writer Mohan Krishna Indraganti saw it, he found him perfect to play the role of “Ram Babu” in the Telugu film ‘Ashta Chamma’ (2008) and made a mark straightaway.
