Sanam Puri is an Indian Singer and Musician. He started winning awards for his singing and Samar Puri started writing songs. Venky meanwhile in Bangalore took up bass playing with various bands. Sanam Puri formed a band named ‘Sanam’ an Indian pop-rock band formed in 2010 currently based in Mumbai, India known for its renditions of old classic Indian Bollywood songs as well as original music. His father used to listen to Indian music, which brought influence on both Sanam and Samar. At the age of six, he started to compose music and sing. Both the brothers used to compose music for their parents to surprise them. Sanam started writing song lyrics at a very young age of 12. His parents, after realizing his talent, offered him full support in fulfilling his dream of becoming a singer.
During his school days in 2003, his brother, Samar Puri, and his classmate, Venky S or Venkat Subramaniyam (bass guitar) decided to make a band and took Sanam as the vocalist. In 2009, Samar and Sanam went to Mumbai to pursue a career in music. Venky reconnected with all the members of the band, and in 2010, they formed a band named SQS Project and participated in “Times Music Supastars,” which they eventually won. In 2013, ‘SQS project’ met Ben Thomas (Managing Director, Kurian & Co Talent Management) as its manager. Notably, Ben Thomas’ company had previously managed pop stars like Sonu Nigam and Vishal–Shekhar. Apart from ‘Supastars,’ the band has two more studio albums to its name, Samar Sanam (2011) and Sanam Revolution (2018), and several compilation albums such as In Love with Sanam (2017), Sanam Revisited (2015), Universally Sanam (2019), and Memories Vol. 1 (2020). The band earned recognition by putting their songs on YouTube; the first one being the cover of ‘Ainvayi Ainvayi’ in October 2012.
